There is a child out there waiting for someone just like you...

Many of us were fortunate to have mentors who shaped our lives—people who taught us important skills, inspired our career paths, and instilled values that have stayed with us. These mentors, whether family or not, provided a perspective that influenced how we view ourselves, the world, and the struggles we face. They made us feel valued and capable. Every child deserves this kind of support.

At Mentors for Youth, our mission is to match children aged 6-14 with caring mentors who spend time with them, listen to them, and provide the encouragement they need to thrive. We currently have 33 active matches, but there are still 10 children on our waitlist, and many more in our community who need a mentor.

Being a part of Mentors for Youth isn't about having special skills or traits; it's about the desire to help kids. The relationship you build is what truly matters. When you mentor a child, you provide a source of stability and hope, making a lasting impact on their self-image and outlook on life.

There are many ways you can get involved beyond mentoring. We need volunteers to support our monthly outings, board and committee members to help guide our organization, and financial contributions to sustain our programs. Every bit of support helps us to continue making a difference in the lives of these children.

"My retirement has afforded me the opportunity to give back to my community through volunteer work. Helping the youth in our community is very important to me as they are our future. I love helping at the Mentors for Youth events and watching the kids grow not only physically but socially."

“Having been a mentor, board member, and donor, I can state from all perspectives the organization provides a great benefit to the children who are in the program. It may not be immediately apparent that the child is benefiting, but I have seen firsthand and been told by mentees the positive impact the program had on their lives. Thus, I know when I make a donation to the organization, I am making a difference in a child’s life.”

“I am truly honored to serve as a board member for Mentors for Youth, an organization that plays a pivotal role in enriching the lives of young individuals in our community. Being part of an organization that dedicates so much to the youth is both a privilege and a responsibility I hold dear. Mentors for Youth is a testament to the power of community and the profound difference we can make when we come together with a shared purpose. I am grateful for the opportunity to contribute to such a wonderful organization and look forward to continuing our mission.”

“Choosing to be a mentor is one of the best decisions I have ever made. In a short amount of time, I've gotten to connect with other mentors, and I've already grown so close to my mentee. It's truly been a great way for me to find community with like-minded adults, and it's such a safe organization for kids to have fun and be themselves!”

“I really enjoy working with Mentors for Youth as an advisor to the board. Over the years I have supported the organization in many ways. This organization has helped hundreds of children in our community and it's great to give back to the organization, community, and the children that we serve. The main reason that I'm involved is due to the impact that I have seen firsthand on the children in the community. Changing lives.”

"Being a mentor has been one of the most rewarding experiences for both of us. I met my mentee when she had just turned 6 years old, and we've shared this journey ever since ... I'm beyond grateful that Mentors for Youth brought us together. What started as a mentoring relationship has grown into something so much more and I truly feel like I've gained a little sister. I'll forever cherish the bond we've built and can't wait to see all the amazing things her future holds."
