Governance 

At Mentors for Youth, we are making a conscientious effort to promote transparency. Here you will find agency information ensuring the integrity of our business and program practices. We have listed our Form 990, Certificate of Incorporation, and IRS Letter of Determination designating our agency as a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization. We have also listed the November 2022 revised Financial Management practices of our organization. A highlighted list of our program policies and procedures was also included. 
Programming Policy Highlights
 
  • Local and National Criminal Background Check required for all volunteers during the application process and annually
  • All volunteers complete a State of Indiana Department of Child Services History Check.
  • The case manager does monthly match check-ins during the first 12 months of the match and quarterly after that.
  • One employer reference and at least two personal references required for all volunteers.
  • Valid driver's license and automobile insurance required.
  • Each volunteer completes an in-person interview and home visit 
  • All Mentors for Youth staff and board members are aware their status as a mandated reporter. Staff are required to report suspected child abuse to the Department of Child Services and local law enforcement, then to the Executive Director. The Executive Director is required to report to the board.
